Day 9: Marina Conversation Ecological Research

today was by far the best day ever!! the early mornings, hot weather, sweats dripping down my face was all worth it! when as a group we got picked up at batipa boat dock. where the journey begun… 

the exploration of marina conversation ecological research began as sample were taken at the different island ☀️🏝️. after a full day filled with research testing and collection of different samples. we all processed to enjoy the islands, me, sara, car wash & dr stephany did a water activity, it was a large floating pulled by the boat.. this was such an amazing experience the adrenaline i was feeling was crAzY!! I tightly grabbed my hangs around the floaty i was holding on for my life!!! we took sharp turns, the tour guide tried to flip up it did not work, the only one who fell was carwash (jordan) ate sh*t and his shorts almost if not fell off… it was so funny we couldn’t stop laughing…..

after we had fun we enjoyed some delicious meals packed by the amazing gloria’s &  some ceviche con un postre (desert) arroz con leche and freshly cut coconuts!! 🥥 it was the best experience everrrrr.. we all had a blast living the moment, we blasting bad bunny, some salsa, cumbias and zapateados.. let me tell you dr. damaris has dance moves, queen popped off breaking dance moves left and right! i was impressed by her dance moves.

after we filled our belly with food i relaxed and sun bath for a bit to get a tan.. 30 minutes into my sun bathing i could not and had to run into the water to refresh. i then saw a group of students enjoying the hotdog water activity. i was scared but still managed to do it but let me tell you i drank so much water that my throat was burning for all the water ingestion. my group of sara, valeria, virginia and myself were on that one. 

i could stop laughing because we kept falling or getting flipped. a core memory of this was when sara fell off all I heard was “ jarrriiiiiiii, jariiiiiiii!!!!!!” so I throw myself to get to her because she was scared but (she is okay no harm) i was funny because she was floating and did not attempt to get back to the boat. she waited for the boat come to her…..

as we were on our way back to batipa we caught a storm 🌨️in the middle of the ocean🌊!!!! AHhhhhhhhhhhhhh i was scareddddd for my life. it felt so unreal that i was in the middle of the ocean in a storm rain pouring down hard… i quickly started to pray hoping we would make it out.. the rain was coming down heavy, it was so bad we could not dock when we arrived. we were all so soaked and drenched when we arrived, it was a core memory for sure. what a great way to end the day all soaked and scared…
